Tickets go on sale Friday, September 5 at the Genesee Theatre.

Watch a scary movie—even a real bone-chiller—and the images may frighten you, but at least you know, that's all there is. What you see is what you get.

Real fear, the kind that clings to your gut, comes from the unseen. It comes from those little aberrations or warning signs that trip your imagination, setting in motion a series of menacing possibilities, transforming an otherwise mundane routine into a slowly-rising crest of terror. Real fear doesn't play out on screen—it plays out in our heads.

The Waukegan Public Library invites you, once again, to close your eyes for another hair-prickling literary ride. Please join us Friday, October 17, at 7:30 p.m., for the Third Annual Ray Bradbury Storytelling Festival, held at the magnificent Genesee Theatre. This year's theme? Literary Villains. As sinister as they come. Mr. Dark. A malefactor of Poe's. Wicked stepmothers, and still others who cause shudders.

So, slink back in your seat. Our trio of gifted storytellers will take you on a spin—from the fog-filled streets of London to the glare and blare of a traveling carnival. Dare to see what lurks … in your own imagination.

Note: Scare factor high! Recommended for kids age 12 and up. For those who prefer the thrill without the chill, try our matinee performance—ideal for K-8 field trips and homeschoolers.
